ABOUT THE FILM

WhY WE TOLD THIS STORY

One of the scariest things that can happen to a person is losing touch with reality, and with constantly declining support for mental health, the reality is actually much more terrifying than any story we could ever tell.

Mental health and homelessness are both intrinsically linked and stigmatized in mainstream media, with the few stories highlighting these issues often failing to explain the structural and societal situations that cause them in the first place.

Most Americans are closer to being homeless than being billionaires, but still villainize homelessness as if it’s the individual’s fault, rather than an unlucky roll of the dice. We glamourize working countless hours to buy things we don’t need to post pictures on the internet bragging to people we don’t know. We worship the idea our constant hard work will create our own “American Dream” while never publicizing the negative side effects this workaholic flex mentality has created.

With so many people only a mental health emergency and a small financial setback away from potentially being homeless, we wanted to tell our own version of riches to rags, in hope audiences realize, it could happen to anyone.
